Albertson’s Shop N Scan

Last week, I went to Albertson’s Food Store at Plano Road & Belt Line Road in Richardson, Texas. I just wanted to buy few things. When I got inside store, I immediately recognized Shop N Scan kiosk. I remember this from TV commercial. I decide to give it a try.
First of all, I could not understand what it says because there’s no captions in except picture and sounds. I kept swiped it with my credit card and an employee came by and told me that I need to use Albertson’s card, not my credit card. Oops!
I tried again with Albertson’s card and it did not work anyway. A lady from store took my card and checks it with her PDA to see if my account is good. According to her, system is down. I was puzzled but can’t tell if it’s really down or not.
I was still able to use Albertson’s card for discount at self-service checkout.
Whatever.
My question is – is this technology really accessibility to deaf shopper. I don’t think so. I am going email and let Albertson’s know about it. Hopefully they are willing to modify to meet our needs.
