How to Avoid & Report Phishing Scam
3 05 2005
A lot of good information for consumer side — how to avoid & report phising scam and more.
Make it easy for consumers to report "phishing" scam.
Tell them how to properly forward header information to:
* An easy to remember address that you set up like fraud@
* The Anti-Phishing Working Group at reportphishing@antiphishing.com
* Federal Trade Commission at spam@uce.gov
* the "abuse" email address at the company that is being spoofed (e.g. "spoof@ebay.com") Tell them to notify the Internet Fraud Complaint Center of the FBI by filing a complaint on their website: www.ifccfbi.gov If you want something better than this, you can try Earthlink toolbar that comes with phishing feature.
This is open to anybody, not just for Earthlink subscribers. Click here to learn more about it. Read full article about How to Avoid & Report Phishing Scam — click here.

They’re using this company to collect the money: Sernam Xpress
Gus Wow. I was in the same situation. But I figured it out without spending the money. It was for a keyboard workstation (Fantom X8) and it was on ebay and I e-mailed them and offered straight up $1,500 and they accepted. The thing is I GOT THE SAME INFORMATION AS YOU EXCEPT A DIFFERENT NAME!
First name : Marsha
Last name : Dyer
Address : 40 Sixth Avenue, Queens Park
City/State: London
Zip code/State : W108PH
Country : United Kingdom
E-mail Marsha_Dyer@kashan.com
Same person no doubt. I reported it to the FBI site and if anyone could give me a link to tell ebay about this I will. I e-mailed the report phishing e-mail. Here for anyone who wants to know is my full experience and what I e-mailed to antiphishing.com
Basically someone who said their name was Marsha Dyer was on ebay and had a Fantom X8 (A keyboard workstation) for sale. Usually these cost like $1,700-$2,500 new. I e-mailed them up and told them I could do it for $1,500. Theye took down their ebay auction and said they could do that. And we would go through Sernam.
Not knowing what Sernam was I looked it up and apparently it is a transportation and logistics company based in France. So I’m like okay. And they also said they would pay for shipping and the wiring fees.
So I send them my shipping address and then later in the day I get an e-mail from “Sernam” or what they referred to as “SeRnaM”. It says to directly wire them the money and then “Sernam” would deliver the product. It said you had to use Western Union and could not pay with an online order. The e-mail also said that “Sernam” didn’t have a phone number because “we think that online we are better able to serve our customers”.
Now this seems a little too good to be true. I’m getting this keyboard very cheap, they are paying for the shipping and wiring fees and the Sernam e-mail said it was in perfect condition. I check the Sernam website just to make sure. And bam! Right there on the front page is a statement about fradulent uses of their name. And then it also has phone numbers you can use to contact. It’s a scam. Good thing too. Now I’m not out $1,500.
I’ll also add that the person seemed like they were in a hurry to finish the transaction. And the “Sernam” fake e-mail was e-mailed to me twice within one minute of eachother. One I’m guessing had html enabled (pictures and colored text) and the other was just plain.
Here’s the person information if it’s any help. Since the money would’ve had to be transferred to a bank account at least some of it had to be true. I would also like to ask what you would suggest I do after this? Who should I contact. Does ebay have some anti-fraud agency (not the fake one that tries to scam people) I can contact to stop this person from being able to scam anyone else? Or is there any other federal agencies I can contact with this?
Here’s their info…
First name : Marsha
Last name : Dyer

I hope that this can help someone else from getting scammed. And again any information you can give me on who I should contact would be great.

eBay Phishing : eBay request: Pay your fees to eBay.
new phishing report. i was contacted by a yahoo (supposed) user wanting to sell me an apple powerbook. when telling me details about transaction procedure, insisted on using SeRnam. then slipped up and clarified saying it is “SeRnam united kingdom.” i googled this SPECIFIC phrase and came upon this site. BINGO, another scam artist caught with his hand in the cookie jar. the yahoo name/handle of this dweeb is sergio852flores and claims to be operating out of the united kingdom. i have a couple of emails saved from him and will be following up by filing a claim with the fbi site.
another scam artist is supposedly located in spain. this con/scam artist goes by the name of patton_will90. first he claims to be some sort of store owner and is selling some “overstock” computers…and magically they can be of ANY configuration you want to have. this seller insists on trying to use dhl express to send the system…he’ll take it to their desk and they will verify package configuration and contents. dhl will then send an email to the buyer verifying the system. then the buyer will send payment. only DIFFICULTY with this scenario is that I SPOKE WITH DHL EXPRESS (INTERNATIONAL SERVICES) AND THEY DO NOT OFFER THIS TYPE OF SERVICE. neither do ups, usps, federal express, NONE OF THE known and reputable shippers offer this service.
i will keep this comment and thread updated with any and all information that i come across.

sounds too good to be true, and at only $250 USD they would pay shipping and wiring costs, just wire money to SeRnam, so like you I checked out the company, sounded legit, then I did some searching on the internet and came across this website, found your post, you saved me a total of $400, they knocked the price down if I got 2 of them and as a free gift, wow, I would get a 3rd. (that was one reason I did extra checking) 3 laptops, with those specs, for $400 USD, who wouldn’t pass it up. Anyway, Thank you very much for looking out for us little guys.
bidding on yahoo seems to generate a lot of spoofs.
might as well lead them on while you’re reporting them and take up their time back.
btw, one said essentially said the same thing, but used dhl shipping.
:)) Gus you are still crying for the money ? LOL . Cry now because maybe we will still meat on mandy or ebay ! But on other name and email and payment system . Ha Ha Ha you will never and ever catch me . I am doing this scaming for over 3 years and nobody caught me .
I also had an offer from a Marsha Dyer. It was also to good to be true. I did not send any money and whenever I ask a question I always got the same copy-paste eamil! It was for a brand new Akai MPC 2000Xl for 900cnd$. It cost new about 1900$. This is the email I received like 3 times:
Hello,
Here is how I want to go about delivery and payment for the product which will be through SERNAM and will also give you the chance to inspect the product before I receive the payment for it.
I will explain to you step by step how this will work.
A. First you have to send me your shipping information (your name and address).
1. After I receive your shipping info, I’ll go to a SERNAM Location and leave the product onto your name and with your address as the intended receiver.
2. SERNAM will check the product, also the legal papers to see that everything is OK with it.
B. You will receive a notification from SERNAM as a confirmation that the product is in their custody and also, that the product has been tested.
1. After that, you will have to make a money transfer via Western Union on the SERNAM AGENT , as a guarantee, and send the payment information to SERNAM
2. SERNAM will verify the Money Transfer, and if everything is in order, they will deliver the product to your door step.
3. After you will receive the product and you will be completely satisfied with it, you will instruct SERNAM to release the payment information to my full name and address so I can collect my money.
C. If by any reason, you will not be satisfied with the product, you will return the product to SERNAM with no expense.
I will pay for shipping and you for the amount transfer.
Let me know if we can do this
you will see the package
i am located in uk london

I’m just letting any one else that there is people around the world, that steal and kill for money, I’m not stupid like those. Would we meet again? Well, the world is very small now days. see ya!!!
[...] I just got this one at my Outlook today. It’s funny because I jsut ordered something from ebay.com few days ago. Lucky, I looked at it carefully since we all knew it happened a lot already. I wrote more about it last year. Click here to read. [...]
