Fell asleep on bus

1 10 2005

busIn 1985’s, I remember I used to go Silent Friends Chapel (SFC) – largest deaf service church in downtown Dallas.

I live in Arlington with my parent at this time and I usually get a ride from my parent or sometime with friends to Six Flags Mall (They converted to outlet today) where church bus would pick up. Most of the time, we always have 5-10 people riding from Arlington Dallas in huge Greyhound-like bus. I know it’s silly to pick up few people but church is paying for all transportation.

I don’t go there every Sunday but I do go very frequently – I was 15 or 16 years old at this time. I wanted to get out of house whenever I can. It was always more fun when friends go with me on bus because it was long trip – approximately one hour drives each trip.

One time, I rode the bus myself – friends didn’t go with me for some reason. Anyway, everything is fine till I was riding head back home. For some reason, bus driver did not realize I was there but I fell asleep all the way back seat.

Unfortunately, driver did not checked on me and he already went back to bus parking lots somewhere outside Arlington. That’s when I woke up and screamed – I knew I missed my drop off at mall. (Not familiar area) Of course, the driver got freaked out – didn’t expected it. They couldn’t call my parent because both are deaf.

The driver has no choice but drove me back to mall again. My parent has been waiting for me forever. I was like pretty shocked what happen and did not want to see it happen again.

Ever since, I was always be very alert whenever I asleep and need to get up early in the morning or during catnap. (Well, my wife helps, too) Its kind strange how it affect my life ever since. Lucky, it’s not that serious but it’s just that I will never forget.
