Over years, my wife and I always looked for any “Christmas” greeting cards such as “Season’s greeting” or “Happy Holidays”. True enough, they are making big deal out of it everywhere right now.
According to Newsleader.com article, “Christmas” is definitely related to church things – no wonder many people critique me for saying “Merry Xmas”. (Nothing serious really)
What does "Merry Christmas" really mean? The Random House Collegiate Dictionary defines "merry" as gaiety, happiness, joyous, happy, cheery and on and on! The definition of Christmas is: the annual festival of the Christian church commemorating the birth of Jesus.
"Happy Holidays" (politically correct choice.) "Happy" is defined as delighted, pleased or glad, "Holiday" as any day fixed by law or custom on which ordinary business is suspended in commemoration of some event or person. A careful look at the definition of those four words, appear to me, have the same almost identical meaning. Which poses another question: What is the problem?
Which one would you prefer to say and give full respect for others?

Remember Von Erich?
Back in 80’s, I remember I used to watch World Class Championship Wrestling (Headquarter in Dallas) every Saturday night (usually 10 PM to Midnight) on TV. I always get emotional when watching it with my father. I don’t believe the wrestling is fake but my dad insisted it is not real.
Well, I am glad I believe it because it is a lot more fun this way. I know it is not real today. I even went to live wrestling with friends few times. It’s wild and crowd in there. One time, they hosted WCCW at Texas Stadium and it was outdoor – I was there, too.
There’s never closed captioning on wrestling channels and it did not bother me because it was always full of actions. Fritz Von Erich is famous wrestler in 60s and 70s but I did not see him much at TV – mostly of the times with his sons. I believe he has seven sons all together but five of them turned “pro” wrestler. Unfortunately, Kevin Von Erich is only lone survivor today. The rest of children killed by committed suicidal or accident by overdose and other things.
My all time favorite is Von Erich Family. You will see many famous wrestlers in Wikipedia under World Class Championship Wrestling. According to this website, Fritz owns WCCW but it went out of business eventually. However, Kevin is sole owner of all WCCW archives, videotapes and footages. They will release into DVD soon. Also, they are working on Von Erich Dynasty movie but I don’t have many details at this time. What’s more, He was published on Texas Monthly Magazine last October 2005 and it was very good article. (sorry article is not available online)
I’ve been following Von Erich dynasty over years and they have website – you can learn more about them at http://www.vonerich.com. I wouldn’t be surprised if you never heard of it. Mostly die-hard wrestling fan and DFW community remember those times.

Morgan Freeman (68 years old) is well-known actor in Hollywood for years. I saw him on 60 Minutes TV show interview with Mike Wallace. I like the way how Morgan think from his own prescriptive.
He said…
His social and political views are at times surprising and he pulls no punches.
He says he finds Black History Month “ridiculous.”
“You’re going to relegate my history to a month?” asks Freeman. “I don’t want a Black History Month. Black history is American history,” he says, noting that there are no white or Jewish history months.
How can we get rid of racism?
“Stop talking about it. I’m going to stop calling you a white man,” Freeman says to Wallace. “And I’m going to ask you to stop calling me a black man. I know you as Mike Wallace. You know me as Morgan Freeman. You wouldn’t say, ‘Well, I know this white guy named Mike Wallace.’ You know what I’m sayin’?”
I like the way he is thinking. In my business, I often avoid labeling ourselves such as Deaf-owned business or something like that. I wonder if it apply same thing to Deaf Awareness thing that many cities are doing it these days. Is it good idea or what? You decide.
