Computer Bandit

18 04 2006

After reading long article about Invasion of the Computer Snatchers from WashingtonPost.com — it’s amazing to see those people make living off on other people’s computer such as installing virus, spyware, adware, etc.

computer_clipart.gifBottom line, you really need to keep your computer up to date regularly. Make sure you have anti-virus and anti-spyware installed and running properly all the times.

You can download get free anti-virus version at Grisoft.com — it works very well for me for couple of years now. For anti-spyware, you should get free Microsoft Defenser — make sure you are running valid Windows XP. You can try another free anti-spyware version called Lavasoft Ad-Aware — I haven’t used it for while now but give it a try if you like.

Of course you should back up your data regularly — I don’t mean everyday (Maybe once every three months) unless you can afford 2nd hard drive as backup.  Back it up on your blank CD-R disc. It can hold a lot of stuff and it is cheap.

You can see list here — I did posted while ago and it has not changed at all.

yeah, it is one of the most common service that I have been performing when the customer called to Rescuecom about their problems with computers in slow performance or freezings…so, the most common cause is by viruses or spywares.

You are right, keep the computers up to the date as possible.
