Lee Anne Ozee
5 08 2006I knew Lee Anne (Deaf) from Sam Houston High School (Deaf Ed program) in Arlington, Texas. She was senior and I was junior at this time – almost 20 years ago. We went out together during homecoming date – it was a lot of fun. She was so exciting about it because she never been to homecoming and got mum from me. It was my first time, too.
All I can find a picture of her in my old album – her high school senior picture.
I still remember those times because I had to work hard to earn money to buy mum for her. Lucky, I have car (‘78 Corolla) – I was able to pick her up and drop her off. I will never forget it.
I got married and moved to Dallas area, I didn’t keep in touch with everyone. I knew she had some health and family issue. It didn’t bother me at all – for some reason we just went separated ways.
On 8/1/06, she passed away and she will have funeral (PDF) on 8/10/06 in Fort Worth. She is 37 years old – too young to be gone. According to FWCCD Summer Edition newsletter, she had undergoing chemotherapy treatment for cancer. (See 3rd page - PDF) I am not sure if it is because of that – will find out soon.
We will miss her.

Dear Grant,
It has taken me almost a year to respond to your sweet memories about Lee Anne Ozee. It was very difficult for me to give up my firstborn but I am certain that she is singing with the angels. Her sisters, Jeanette and Missy, and I miss her terribly but we ‘feel’ her presence. Though, she had some rough times as an adult. I could not have been more proud of her than when she lay on her deathbed. She always approached problems with simplicity. Death was no different. She described her destination with brilliant clarity. When her last breath was near; she turned to me and smiled as I signed I love you. Then, she turned to her sister, Jeanette. Turning her head slightly more, she gazed out at the bright morning sun and left us; still with a smile on her face. She loved to laugh. She loved to read, climb trees, swim, dive, learn new things, tell jokes, play with her nephews, helped us build our house, play softball, football, race, you name it, she could do it. Thank you for being part of her life. Good luck to you all you do with your life.
Sincerely,
Helen L. Sims (proud mother of Lee Anne Ozee)
