How to install relay service program on your Blackberry (If you want to view this video thru my site, click here or youtube account - click here.)
Personally, I like to use both direct program and AIM-based relay program. It works like charm. Note: Every carrier may be slightly different. This is Nextel Blackberry 7520 model.
Let’s use Sprint Relay as an example:
- Go to Internet Bowser icon and click
- Type www.sprintrelay.com/download
- It will pop up saying if you want to install Sprint Relay software
- Press Yes
- It will take few minutes to download (it will show scroll bar)
- It will let you know when it is ready to install
- It probably will ask you to restart Blackberry
- It may ask you to accept “ports” permission – if so, accept all (one time)
- After restart, go to Sprint icon and give it a try
- Enjoy!
There’s more details how to install on your Blackberry models. Too bad they doesn’t have ASL video for it but they are step by step instructions. I don’t know if another relay service offers relay service software for Blackberry. (Not IM client or AIM-based)
If you are die-hard Blackberry fan, you should check this site - a lot of useful information: click here.

I have one question on aim. With my sidekick 2, I can use aim (instant messaging) for free. There are some confusions among us (deaf), that you have to pay extra for aim under blackberry pager. Do you pay extra for aim under your new blackberry pager?
What you need to do is download Ramble Instant Messenger (freeware) — I guess before Ramble IM become available, there’s no freeware IM client for long time for Blackberry users. It forced people to purchase IM program such as Verichat.
IM client = 3rd party software that support one or multiple instant messenger such as AOL, Yahoo, MSN, IQC, etc. So, it get better and free now than before

Remember using relay service via IM is always free.
Grant,
I have one question to ask… a friend of mine ordered Blackberry 7290… Do my friend need to go on Internet Browser and find the AOL IM for this Blackberry 7290? My friend said it did not support AIM or Relay on his Blackberry 7290, Please let me know before I can assist my friend with his new Blackberry 7290…
Thank you,
