Disappointed with LifeLinks VRS

13 09 2006

LifeLinks VRS

LifeLinks VRS (LLVRS) screwed up….again.

This time they finally shut down free broadband program. What’s more they did not even inform me at ALL. I found out about it thru one of my friend from another state. (See email below)

LifeLinks VRS paid my Comcast faithfully for approximately six months. My Comcast have been switched to Time Warner Cable (TWC) by no choice last month. I got a bill saying I owed $99 plus tax for hi-speed internet business package. (It was selected by LLVRS) I immediately email to LLVRS customer service twice within a week and I never heard from them. I finally called TWC and transferred account back to resident package. ($49 a month) I still owed about 2 weeks worth of business package.

Forget it; I don’t need anything from LLVRS anymore. It’s not worth.

I’ve wrote few times about LLVRS at my blogsite. It was nothing but frustration (And some positive, too) with them – click here for more details. I am sorry to say that but they don’t deserve to be in VRS business till they fix it and improve their customer service.

You still can use Sightspeed video software (pretty good stuff) without using LLVRS. Sign it up for personal use - it’s free.

Hello,

Lifelinks has striven to support its program of free broadband to deaf persons through Comcast.

The program was intended for deaf people but hearing people signed on and abused our offer, using up the funding that we had budgeted for it.

Regrettably, it is necessary to discontinue the program.

You can continue to receive Comcast broadband by contracting with Comcast directly and we suggest you do so by calling the Comcast number in your area, using VRS or e-mail.

When you do so, please remember that Lifelinks VRS is available to you just as it has been in the past either by downloading the free Sightspeed software on your PC from our website - http://www.lifelinksvrs.com/ or by calling *69.18.207.166 * using your VP-100 or D-Link.

We regret the inconvenience.

Thank you for your understanding.

Grant,

Why are you complaining about LifeLink VRS? Are you attempting to look for another VRS competitor to offer you a free high speed Internet cable service?

Oh boy…get a life. Just pay the cable bill while you still get a free long distance especially some international distance call.

Lifelink VRS have right to cancel the free program since there are other hearies trying to steal the free high speed Internet cable service and fancy webcams from the deafies.

Do you still have problem with ASL terps at the LifeLink VRS? No, why are you whining over the freebies from the LifeLink VRS?

Your parent is not there to feed you with the silver spoon….

Dear Grant W. Laird, Jr.

I appreciate your opinion and comments.
Lifelinks tried to do something positive for the deaf community by offering to pay for free broadband from Comcast regardless of whether they used Lifelinks VRS or any other VRS provider. No other VRS company has ever done that, not even wealthy Sorenson. Yet, instead of gratitude, you are angry with us because the program ended, because hearing people abused our generosity and faked being deaf. Clearly, as a small company, our resources are limited. Hearing people outnumbered deaf people 9:1 in accepting our free broafband offer. We also provided free web cameras. We sent out e-mails to all users to make them aware that Comcast would be discontinuing the service.Perhaps, the e-mail address we had for some people was inaccurate. We tried and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and hope that you will find the Lifelinks VRS service satisfactory on its own merits. Lifelinks provided Spanish sign language even before it was mandated and even before it was reimbursed, because we truly care for the deaf community. 90% of our interpreters are CODA’s and are well aware of deaf culture .
Thank you for your consideration.

Wes,

Yeah, I don’t blame you for that. I even submitted my video to confirmed for continue this program. LLVRS customer service failed – they never replied back to me.

What bother me the most is that they misleading deaf community and it are illegal in some states whether they made mistake or not. It is false advertising to me.

Bottom line, it is good lesson and hopefully LLVRS will do better next time.

Smile.
