Jack in the Box - Thru Drive: Revisit
23 02 2007
I wrote about it last November 2004 (click here) and I want to share update with you guys about it two years later.
Talk about Jack in the Box Thru Drive Revisit in this vlog Summary:
- I mentioned previous article at my blog about it last November 2004.
- I don’t see any improvement in Dallas - Fort Worth, Texas so far.
- My daughter still remember what happened but she said it doesn’t bother her anymore. (She’s hearing)
- Do we see any improvement in thru drive since anywhere in USA?

I think that you need to accept some of the blame here. By not moving to the waiting area as you were asked, you chose to hold up others behind you and interrupt the flow of service inside the restaurant. I think this was an obnoxious thing to do on your part. If you had just said, “Thank you, I’ll wait for you guys to get my order ready and bring it out to me,” and moved forward, none of this would have happened.
I have had my share of experiences with drive-ins basically because I am a mother and it is a lot easier to go through drive-ins.
Anyway, I have noticed some changes especially at McDonalds. During lunch hour, there is always a cashier outside taking orders from people before they were going in drive-in, that made it so easy because I could give my note and the cashier could give the order to the next person. Also McDonalds has two windows where you can give money, that is where I can give note to the cashier, they use a different cashier machine to place my order and then I drive in to the second window to pick up my order. I have seen this work well. These fast food restaurants where I live, they know me and are always welcoming to work with me because I patronize at these restaurants often (Wendys, McDonalds, Burger King).

I guess you’re one of the few that challenge the system. There was a lawsuit in the past, but nothing came out of it for others. Do anyone see drive thru push buttons menu yet? I park and walk in. Sometimes, fine, park on side, they bring it over, a compromise.
I live in DFW area and you are not alone. All of us have to deal with what is in front of us.
What I think coming from your vlog is the attitude you have placed yourself toward the JITB worker and the people behind you at the drive thru. They simply asked you to move ahead a little so they would get the others orders out of the way in a streamline manner and they were willing to accomply you by bringing your order for you so you don’t have to park and walk in the lobby to place an order.
What happened to simple courtsey and self respect and respect for others? I dont use drive thru UNLESS if the lobby is closed. Other than that I take an advantage of some execrise by getting out of the car and walk. Mind you, I’m deaf and we have to learn to get along with hearing people the best way we can and we should not be behaving like diva like this drive thru scenario.
Nothing is perfect in this world. Hearing people got their own problems too.
Interesting.. I had no problem. McDonad’s is about 5 blocks from my house, and I always use the drive thru all the time.. I don’t want to take my son out the car. I noticed that on McDonald’s drive thru window as a stickers for Hearing Impaired/Deaf, please use this window to order. I always order there from this window and had no problem.. The other customers (cars) behind might be annoying about it, but who cares. I know those people well, and I told them that if they got problem with that, they will know that I will sue them for big $$ and discriminations.
The only times that I go thru drive thru there was early 6:00am (less traffic) and 8:00pm (less traffic).
Hang in there, i am in same shoes as you have.. I haven’t try the other fast food’s drive thru yet. McDonald’s was the only one that I go there all the time, (my son’s favorite Mighty Meals (& Happy Meals) there..
Yeah, I have experienced that myself too. I will pull over sometimes… it depends. Sometimes I won’t pull over and one time cashier told me that if I won’t pull over, then people behind you will have to wait for their food and can you please move? I told cashier, if I have to wait, then they need to wait too! That’s that. Cashier didn’t argue back with me as she knew I have good point and I have right to stay, not to pull over. I have right as others, period. I don’t care what other people may think of me, lol.
