How to Make Good Vlog
6 01 2008Past couple of years, Grant received numbers of request how he create good vlog. (Or best vlog whichever fit you better.) Grant acknowledged that there’s many vlogger out there with success results. Basically, he wants to explain from his own experience and shared his tricks with you. This is for PC-based system with webcam:
- Stick with high quality webcam (At least $50 dollars +)
- Stay at least 1 GB memory RAM
- Make sure you close all apps; its always helpful (Try “msconfig”)
- Set up highest setting at Microsoft Movie Maker or whatever you use to edit your video
- If invest new hard drive; get SATA-type instead of PATA-type hard drive
- Do plenty of experiment before you become comfortable
Keep in mind; you don’t have to follow his way. Just be flexibility and creative. Feel free to share your suggestion and ideas with us!
P.S. He’s working on getting his own backdrop – please forgive him

Just ask you a question, why not use window vista? Is ’speed’ the reason?
Is built-in webcam any good?
How about use camasatia to show how to uncheck the startup programs?
Vista is only one year old - its still slow and buggy unless you buy high-end model computer. (my personal opinion)
Built-in webcam is usually very small which means low-end camera. I would stay away from it for now. I cannot make comment about macbook — I wonder if they are good or what?
I’ve never heard of Camasatia — give me link where I can check it out?

Got a question for ya…
#1 I have many pictures and some videos in my computer, XP, about 4 years old…I added more memory, now a total of 1GB, seems like it’s not enough…so will get another 1GB…if that will help me have more memory and more room as I don’t have much room left in computer.
I went to computer store and told her about my little space left in computer, what to add, she told me “Get a new hard drive” I don’t understand why need new hard drive? Is that what I need?
#2 What is the easiest way to transfer pictures to CD or DVD? I’m confused about CD, DVD, -, +, R, RW…I know R is for read only…RW is for Read/Write. I have LightScribe Super Multi DVD Writer (HP DVD 940). I still have problems with copying and saving to CD, DVD, I’m clueless…not tech savvy, at all.
Thanks for any advise and help you can give us!! Happy New Year!
Grant
I think what Joe was talking about, I found it…Camtasia 5.0

I am curious. What’s the difference between Window XP and Vista? I don’t know much about computer stuff.
One of my two desktop comptuers was “brand new,” purchased in January 2007, awaiting the arrival of Windows Vista in February 2007. Whilst waiting for Vista, I did a lot of research on it on the Internet and in PC magazines.
It turned out that the reviews gave more thumbs-down than thumbs-up on Vista that I have decided not to install the Vista. One of the magazines issued some time last summer that Europe complained so much about Vista that
Microsfot is planning to upgrade Vista in the near future. So I have a question to ask you. Should I still install my Vista despite the negative reviews? Have you so far experienced anything negative about Vista in your computer? What advantages do you receive from Vista? I have 2GB for memory.
If you can use XP instead of Vista, do so.
I wonder about lighting? That’s the hardest part for me get.
BTW, DeafWoman - the IG you added was RAM, temporary memory the computer uses. Filespace is hard drive space.
Make sure you run disk cleanup first.
You can email me at
help at grcomputerworks.com if you need some step by step instructions.
Bill,
I tried in vain to get in touch with you at grcomputerworks.com,
but my ISP does not recogise your email address and says that
it is incomplete. I guess the one you provided was a typo? Would
you kindly re-do it, smile? Thanks so much.

use billcreswellATgmail.com then (replace the AT with @) then.
I am experimenting, and thought I had help@grcomputerworks.com working.
I just fixed error message. Sorry about it.
Anyway, about backup pics and other files — I think external hard drive is easiest of all. I got mine for $69 dollars - it is Maxtor 250gb. Its very easy compared to burn on DVD or CD frequently.
If you want to burn on CD or DVD, its pretty cheap these days, too. You will need to buy DVD/CD Burner which cost around $30 dollars. Also, buy blank discs (DVD discs is better; can hold more stuff than CD discs) - dont worry about +, - and all that craps. Its pretty comptiable these days - it will work on all with newest DVD/CD Burner. 50 discs bundle cost maybe $10 dollars?

You should come try blogTV.com where you can invite a cohost up and sign to them that way. You can carry on an entire conversation and the chat audience can join in as well.
iSight on Macbook/Pro/iMac uses the CCD technology which is why it’s superior to most of webcams out there except for the higher end webcams that uses the CCD technology.
I have vista in my computer. Last year I was forced to buy a new computer so vista came with it . I like it okay, but I prefer xp. I still have xp in laptop. I was told that vista requires a lot of space and it will slow your computer down. I hardly notice the different in my new computer. I remember a saleman told me to delete some programs in my computer. Some of them are not necessary. I have not done it. If you upgrade to vista, some program will not work with. Adobe Acrobat will not work with vista. Dreamweaver will work under vista.
Grant,
Thank you for this lesson. I finally upload video my computer. I need to get a lamp. I have one question aboud dvd. I did make a copy to my dvd disk. I realized I need to start over. I tried to delete the old video from a dvd disk, but can’t . I wonder why?
Martha,
You cannot re-use DVD-/+R discs. Once burned, its done or throw it away. Re-do with new disc
Those CD-/+R or DVD-/+R discs are designed to “write” once. They also selling CD-RW or DVD-RW (RW=Rewritten) but its little bit expensive. So, your better off using DVD-/+R discs since they are so cheap.
