How to improve your own wordpress website with many tips:

  • Add printer plugins - this way it will print perfect post this way rather than print whole crappy with themes in it on your printout.
  • Updated profile/picture - yes picture of yourself!!
  • Add links on footer; i.e. www.crazytech.com or one of your favorite link.
  • Add MyBlogLog - you can sign up at www.mybloglog.com
  • Add Top Commenters on sidebar - use your widget to put up there
  • P-Metrics? Check it out!
  • Add Amazon advertising with your own reseller account
  • Use tags!!
  • Check out Viddler - supposed to be better quality video
  • Check out Woopra - www.woopra.com (beta version)
  • Use hyperlink with several words instead of 1-2 words
  • Email Subscription - RECOMMENDATION!! (subscribe2 plugins) — FeedBurner is also good optional
  • Select partial RSS Feed instead of full
  • Open comments all the times; do not require register
  • Submit your post at www.Digg.com - its free
  • Use FastStone program for optimize & resize pictures. its free!
  • Use WP Super Cache plugins - better loading and speedy
  • Add image on every post; at least one rather than boring text only; Try www.weburbanist.com
  • No begging!!
  • Donncha plugins - designed for no zone advertising for preferance visitors (interesting suggestion here)
  • Stick with better and/or best tools such as webcam, avoid cheapass equipments
  • Use unique name for each images — use fire_house_dallas.jpg instead of img0001.jpg
  • Check out more cool info at OMB plugins list here

Feel free to make comments what you think of this tips to improve your Wordpress. Again, I haven’t try them all — it may be necessary for you to do little further research by yourself.

Oh cool about WP worship! Only if it’s nearby, I’d definitely love to go and learn more. Thanks so much for sharing what you have learned because I learned something new! I have never tried some of these things before.

I’d love to hear after you try some and if they are worth it or not.

I do have top commentators which I added a couple of mths ago, it seems everyone love it. It is definitely a must to have.

I do have newsletter available however it is not 100% working well because there are some people that never got it so there is some glitches which I’m gonna look around for a better one.

Oh, I gotta check Faststone, thanks! Is there difference between WP-Cache and Super Cache? I currently have WP-Cache. That is absolutely correct about the “beg” part which no one should do that, glad they mentioned it in the worship. It’s good to say thank you once a while out of blue in videos or blog like I have done a few times to let them know that they make the difference.

I wonder did they provide an interpreter? If so, did they provide on their own or did you request for one?

Thanks so much for sharing all, it helped!!

Did you try Subscribe2 plugins? (email-based mailing list for Wordpress) It’s pretty good and free one - give it a try. Let me know if you need help.

Super Cache and Wp-Cache is same thing.

Yes, I talked to them about getting interpreter but I decide to let it go because I didn’t want to go hard on them at first time. I really care about create strong network with wordpress community. However the WordCamp Dallas leader told me he would do something about it if we ever host one in here again in future. We will see :)

Hey Grant!

Yep, as a matter of fact, I downloaded Subscriber2 however the problem is that it’s sending only to registered users but not confirmed users so I’m not sure why and I couldn’t figure how for me to send out to confirmed users on each posts, hmm. Do you have Subscribe2, also?

Keep me posted for next worship, I’d love to go!

SG,

Yes, I still use it.

About uncomfirmed email address, you will have to wait and let users confirm themselves. The reason for this — avoid unwanted email address. (i.e. spam) If you notice that some email address haven’t confirm for couple months, just delete it. (be safe than sorry) You also can click to remind them to confirm thru their email address — the feature is part of it — look at bottom after you select uncomfirmed filter. Check it out!

Of course, you can add email address manually — some people will never figure it out. Hehe…

Hey Grant,

Yeah, I’m talking about “confirmed” emails. Actually, when I set up and I tested to confirm the email on few email addresses which were “confirmed” addresses but none of them ever received an announcement except registered users which I do not want. I want to be able to send out to confirmed emails rather than only registered users. Do you able to send out to confirmed emails?

Grant Laird Jr. (22:22:39) :

Yeah, it works fine for me.

Did you check subscribe2 plugins under options? You might need to fine-tweak to make it work properly? Also, if you haven’t upgrade, make sure you download latest version and get subscribe2 widget, too.

Thank you for the tips. I hadn’t considered making my blog a Vlog until now. I might need to be sure I do a better job of shaving before I post! I saw you were using b2evolution at one point. Do you prefer b2evolution or wordpress. Prior to setting up my blog on b2evolution I had only maintained a private journal on LiveJournal. I really like it’s implementation, but it isn’t as professional as I wanted for my law oriented blog.

I already loved WordPress and became experienced with it within week after I tried it and I thank Grant about it and I know he told me long time ago it’s the ebst blogger program so I took his word until today, why I waited? I am dumb! But until now, I loved it and been using it alot and it’s so easy and professional and SIMPLE! That what I like about WordPress! I am using WP on my several sites. I have been customizing ALOT for my business and you can see it at: http://www.unixielhost.net/corp/blog/ and you will see it uses WP and it fits in the template, cool huh? Thanks Grant!
