Lay a hand on the microwave case. You can feel the popping through it. Or watch it in the window for it to stop shaking. Some microwaves have a popcorn sensor that does it for you.

Funny, and you have a good point. Really, the best way to make popcorn in any microwave is to use the Popcorn button, because each microwave is configured to to popcorn properly with that button.
Popcorn is kinda a tough one for the deaf. You kinda need to go by the time instead of the pop sound. Set the microwave for the lowest recommended time setting instead of the highest.

Deaf freindly popcorn would be huge. Until then I think you kinda have to go with the time specified instead of hearing the pops.
I know for sure it is not blind-friendly.
Easy to find out if it is not popping by putting a cry signal inside and watch the light going on and off…..
